SCX24 compatibility reference: what fits what

A reference for what SCX24 parts fit which models: wheels, tires, axles, chassis, servos, motors. The chart I wish I had on day one.

This is the reference I wish I'd had on day one: which SCX24 parts physically fit which model. Aftermarket vendors list compatibility by Axial part number, so memorize those. They're the only reliable way to confirm fitment before you buy.

Axial part numbers cheat sheet

  • AXI90081: SCX24 Deadbolt
  • AXI00001: SCX24 Chevrolet C10 1967
  • AXI00002: SCX24 Jeep Wrangler JLU CRC
  • AXI00004: SCX24 B-17 Betty
  • AXI00005: SCX24 Jeep JT Gladiator
  • AXI00006: SCX24 Ford Bronco 2021
  • AXI00007: SCX24 Dodge Power Wagon 1940s
  • AXI-1219: SCX24 Base Camp
  • AXI-2035: SCX24 Toyota 4Runner

Wheelbase compatibility

Two groups:

  • Standard 133 to 133.5mm: Deadbolt, JLU, C10, B-17 Betty, Bronco, Power Wagon, Base Camp, 4Runner.
  • Extended 155mm: Gladiator only. Has its own link set and chassis pan length. Buy Gladiator-specific parts.

What fits across all SCX24 models

  • Wheels. 7mm hex. All wheels and hex extenders fit all models.
  • Tires. Any 1.0" SCX24-class tire fits, but body clearance varies (the C10 is tightest).
  • Servos. Stock-tray micros, wing servos with the right mount, or direct-to-axle servos. Direct-to-axle EcoPower WP827-X24 does not fit the Deadbolt or B-17 Betty.
  • Motors. 030 and 050 brushed and brushless motors fit all models (some 050 motors need a battery post trim).
  • 2-in-1 ESC/RX boards. Spektrum SPMXSE2425RX and HRZ00015 are interchangeable across models. Furitek Lizard, Lizard Pro, INJORA MBL32, and other aftermarket 2-in-1s also fit all models.
  • Batteries. Any 2S pack with JST-PH 2.0 plus JST-XH balance fits the stock tray (up to around 56×30×14mm). Bigger packs need an aftermarket tray.
  • Stock-WB axles. Aftermarket portal axles, isokinetics, and CVD upgrades for the standard-WB models fit all standard-WB SCX24s.

What doesn't fit across models

  • Bodies. Each model uses its own body shell. Some Pro-Line and INJORA aftermarket bodies fit multiple models, but check before you buy.
  • Body posts and clips. Vary by body. Sometimes interchangeable, sometimes not.
  • Link sets. Standard-WB models share. Gladiator has its own.
  • Some chassis pieces. The pan and rails vary slightly between revisions. LCG chassis kits typically list compatibility model-by-model.
  • Some servo mounts. Direct-mount-to-axle servos won't fit the Deadbolt or B-17 Betty. Other mount styles work universally.

2-in-1 board generations and what they mean for upgrades

Two generations of stock 2-in-1 are in production trucks. The board matters for ESC and receiver upgrades:

  • SPMXSE2425RX. On most SCX24s released 2020 through early 2024. Channel 2 is broken out on this board, which means a standalone ESC can piggyback on the stock receiver.
  • HRZ00015 (and HRZ00014 predecessor). On V2 trucks from 2024 onward (Bronco V2, Gladiator, late JLU, 4Runner). No usable channel-2 bypass. A standalone ESC requires a new receiver.

Practical rule: if you're upgrading to a brushless ESC on a post-2024 truck, budget for a new receiver too. More detail in the ESC/receiver combo explainer.

Tire size guidance by body

  • C10: 50 to 58mm OD without modifications. Above 58mm needs hex extenders or fender trimming.
  • JLU, Bronco, Power Wagon, 4Runner: 50 to 62mm OD usually fits without mods. Above 62mm checks needed.
  • Deadbolt, B-17 Betty, Base Camp: Most flexible. Up to 64mm OD usually fits without mods.
  • Gladiator: Same flexibility as JLU/Bronco given the +22mm wheelbase doesn't change the tire wells.

FCX24 compatibility

Cross-compat with the FMS FCX24 is mostly no. Both use 7mm hex, so many tires physically work. Hex extenders are platform-specific (FCX24 is M2 axle ends, SCX24 is M1.4). Electronics, axles, links, and bodies don't interchange. Full picture in the SCX24 vs. FCX24 comparison.

How to confirm fitment before you buy

  1. Find the Axial part number for your truck (printed on the box or in the manual).
  2. Check the aftermarket product page for a compatibility list. Real vendors list specific Axial part numbers (AXI00002 for JLU, etc.).
  3. If the listing just says “SCX24,” assume it's the standard-WB models. Confirm by asking the vendor if you have a Gladiator.
  4. For body-specific parts (fenders, body lifts), confirm the body model explicitly.

A note on recommendations

If I recommend a part, it's because I've actually used it on one of my builds and liked it. I'm not sponsored. If a part is junk, I'll let you know. I may add affiliate links down the road to help cover hosting, but this is a passion project. I'll keep running it whether five people use it or five thousand do. I'm a tech nerd, and this is the kind of thing I'd build for myself anyway.
